THE JET PROVOST T.5
[History of the JP5] [Known survivors]
110 Jet Provost T.5s were ordered by the RAF from the British Aircraft Corporation (XW287-336, XW351-375, XW404-438), and all were delivered. There were also the two T.4s (XS230 and XS231) converted into the two prototype aircraft.
The last variant of the JP has survived in large numbers, no doubt assisted by the type surviving in RAF service until 1993.
A small number of examples were written off as a result of flying accidents or were scrapped on RAF bases.
Some T.5s and T.5As still serve the RAF in the 21st century as ground instructional airframes in the Technical Training schools.
